Bahamas Packing Essentials

I’m heading to the Bahamas at the end of this week, so I spent the majority of my weekend running errands in preparation for our trip. We’ll be attending a friend’s wedding while we are there, but other than that, I don’t plan on straying too far from the pool or beach, unless of course for fruity drinks at the wet bar. I’ve heard so many great things about the Bahamas- turquoise waters, serene beaches, and great food-I can’t wait to experience it myself!  There are still a few things left to buy, but here’s a glimpse at what I’m packing in my suitcase.

Currently Craving: Boyfriend Jeans

According to Sunday’s discovery, we are still looking at six more weeks of Winter, but that isn’t stopping me from dreaming about my Spring wardrobe. The first thing I plan on adding to my closet is a pair of boyfriend jeans. They’re comfortable, can be dressed up or down, and pair well with just about any type of shoe. I can’t believe I don’t own a pair! There are  variety of brands to choose from, but here a few that I’m currently craving.

Little Red Dress

A little black dress is always a go-to for date nights, but when it comes to Valentine’s Day, I like to spruce things up a little. This year, I’ll be reaching for my little red dress, which is just as classic and adds that much needed pop of color. These are some of my favorite little red dresses  that will fit just about any budget. I’ll be wearing this scalloped number come V-day and I hope my boyfriend loves it just as much as I do!

Valentine’s Day Gift Guide

Now that the “snowpacolypse” is over and life is back to normal, it’s time to focus on more important things-like Valentine’s Day and the fact that it’s just 15 days away! I’ve always been a sucker for anything girly and pink, so this year I’ve picked out things that are just that. Chocolates and roses are great, but you really can’t go wrong with a pretty necklace or some lacy lingerie. I am also loving this rose scented candle which smells amazing!

One Year

One year ago today I started Ashes & Wine and I’m so glad I did. It’s been such a great way to document my adventures, share style tips and recipes, but most importantly, I’ve become part of a whole new community. I’d like to give a sincere thank you to all my supporters, readers and friends who have followed along this past year. My blog has grown so much since I wrote my first post and I could not be more pleased with the direction it’s headed. I’m looking forward to my second year of blogging and hope that you’ll continue to show your support!

P.S. It’s still a work in progress, but I hope you like the new look!

Valentine’s Day is just a month away so naturally it’s time to add more hearts to my wardrobe. I’m typically not a fan of holiday themed apparel as I find it can be a bit tacky, although I can’t help but embrace all the heart adorned pieces I’ve been seeing lots of lately.  This year, I’m all about neutral shades of black and white, with pops of red here and there. This cashmere sweater would look perfect with some red pants or these flats paired with a little black dress. When done subtly, holiday themed apparel can actually look chic. Forget about those over the top, gaudy pieces- here are my favorite picks that will add a sweet touch to your wardrobe this Valentine’s Day.

New Year’s Eve Style

I love any excuse to wear a little extra sparkle and there is no holiday more appropriate than New Year’s Eve to do just that. This NYE, I’m opting for a glamourous look complete with gold sequins and vintage flair. I’ve had this BB Dakota dress since August, but really haven’t had the opportunity to wear it. I’ll be pairing it with some ankle booties, these 20’s inspired earrings, and this festive clutch by Kate Spade. I can’t wait to throw it on and sip on some sparkly cocktails to welcome 2014!

Holiday Gift Guide: Under $100

For my next holiday gift guide installment, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite picks for under $100 (you can check out my under $25 here and under $50 here). These items are definitely worth splurging over, especially this chic geode bottlestopper, this graphic poster, and this fragrance by Estée Lauder. I hope that some of these suggestions will serve as excellent gifts for loved ones or yourself! I’ll be posting the final installment later this week so stay tuned!

Holiday Gift Guide: Under $50

Here’s the next installment of this year’s holiday gift guide with items under $50. Whether you’re looking for something for the home (like these colorful coasters by Jonathan Adler), jewelry (like this statement necklace or these sparkly studs) or updated necessities (like this phone case or this striped peplum top), there’s a wide variety from which to choose.
