Holiday Gift Guide: Stocking Stuffers

This is the final installment of my Holiday Gift Guide for 2013, but to me it is the most important. Every year I go into the holidays with plans to get all my gifts on Black Friday, if not by the first week in December. In all reality, I’m usually seen picking up last minute gifts on Christmas Eve. I don’t mind this last minute scrambling because some of my favorite gifts I’ve ever received have been the smallest, most personalized ones (or even well, thought out stocking stuffers). Checking my stocking Christmas morning is my favorite thing to do (partially because I always forget about it), but mostly because these gifts are the most fun. So, if you’re short on time this year or just looking for a great stocking stuffer, I’ve picked out some of my favorite cheap thrills including this hand cream, the best hair ties ever, and these fun sticky notes.

Holiday Gift Guide: Under $100

For my next holiday gift guide installment, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite picks for under $100 (you can check out my under $25 here and under $50 here). These items are definitely worth splurging over, especially this chic geode bottlestopper, this graphic poster, and this fragrance by Estée Lauder. I hope that some of these suggestions will serve as excellent gifts for loved ones or yourself! I’ll be posting the final installment later this week so stay tuned!

Christmas in the City

Christmas in Atlanta is always such a magical time of the year. The streets are filled with holiday decor, holiday shopping is in full swing, and despite the frigid temperatures, everyone seems to be in such great spirits. This past weekend, my boyfriend and I headed down to Atlantic Station to finish up some Christmas shopping, but while we were there, we got to take in the full splendor of Christmas complete with temps below 40 degrees, a visit with the giant (but beautifully decorated) tree, and an afternoon ice skating. As a former figure skater I was a little disappointed with my performance on the ice, but that didn’t hinder my spirits as it truly was a perfect winter day surrounded by great company.

Elf Tracker: Week 2

Elf Tracker Week 2

Week 2 is over with and Oliver has certainly been entertaining! What’s he been up to lately? In between his strict yoga schedule and questionable acting gigs, Oliver has managed to watch the 2013 Victoria’s Secret Fashion show, do a little reading, and help me pick out my outfit for a tacky sweater party. I caught him earlier today practicing for the beer chugging contest at the Christmas party with his own “das boot” (Christmas themed of course). Stay tuned for Week 3’s adventures and don’t forget- you can keep up with Oliver daily using the hashtag #oliversadventures.

A MUGHappy Friday the 13th! It’s certainly been a hectic few weeks over here-my calendar has been slammed! This weekend I planned on taking it easy by finishing up my Christmas shopping (hopefully), watching the Heisman Trophy Award ceremony (Go Jameis!), and spending a leisurely afternoon ice skating with my boyfriend. We have been anxiously waiting to go skating on the outside rink which recently opened up (and then melted due to weather) in Atlantic Station. The past few days have been really cold, so we are hopeful this weekend will be the perfect time to go. I’m also going to soak up as much downtime as I can with some hot beverages and holiday movies by the fire. Cheers to the weekend from me and my new favorite mug!

P.S. Two of my favorite brands recently collaborated (Sugar Paper LA + Target) and their goodies are now sold in Target stores. I picked up a new planner and desk calendar for 2014. Check it out before it’s gone!

Holiday Gift Guide: Under $50

Here’s the next installment of this year’s holiday gift guide with items under $50. Whether you’re looking for something for the home (like these colorful coasters by Jonathan Adler), jewelry (like this statement necklace or these sparkly studs) or updated necessities (like this phone case or this striped peplum top), there’s a wide variety from which to choose.

Gingerbread Cookies

photo 2-9

It had been a while since I last used my Kitchen-Aid, so the other night I decided to test out a new recipe and put it to good use with some holiday baking. I made these classic gingerbread cookies, using my favorite Christmas cookie cutters, and decorated them with royal icing. I was a little nervous about the outcome when I realized the dough didn’t require eggs, but my expectations were exceeded when I pulled them out of the oven. Not only did my house smell amazing, but the cookies were firm and contained a hint of that signature spice with every bite. Plus, it was completely safe to snack on the raw dough. With the holidays drawing closer, I know I’ll be making these again to give out as gifts for my friends and co-workers.

Holiday Gift Guide: Under $25

Who said Christmas gifts had to be expensive? I’ve come up with some great gift ideas, all under $25, that are sure to please anyone on your list without burning a hole in your wallet. How cute is this arrow note set from Sugar Paper LA? I use this same set for all my blog correspondences. I love the arrow, it was the inspiration for my new site (coming soon). Other favorites on my list include these flannel pajamas from Target (I already own 2 pairs) and this pencil set from Amanda Catherine Designs.

Elf Tracker: Week 1

Elf Tracker

He’s back and he’s been a busy little elf! Oliver has been here a little over a week-making his way around the house, spreading holiday cheer, and helping us get into the Christmas spirit. I decided to do a weekly update of all his adventures so that you all can follow along. So far, he’s put on his warpaint to cheer on the Noles, decorated for Christmas, gotten chocolate wasted, and even did his best Miley Cyrus impression. I’ll do an update every week, but for those of you that want to follow him daily, you can browse social media using the hashtag #oliversadventures. Stay tuned for week 2!
