Pink Champagne Cupcakes

Happy New Year’s Eve! In an effort to add some festiveness to these last hours of 2013, I decided to make some Pink Champagne Cupcakes to ring in the new year. Bubbly + Cupcakes- seriously, what could be better? To make the cupcakes, I used a standard box mix and replaced the water with some champagne. I then added some red food coloring to the mix to make them pink. Lastly, I topped them with my homemade champagne buttercream and pink sprinkles for a finishing touch. They definitely taste like champagne, but these wont have you feeling tipsy as the clock strikes midnight.

2013 was a great year. From St. Patrick’s Day in Savannah to summer Braves games to apple picking in the mountains, this has seriously been  one of the best years yet. There were personal milestones (starting my blog) and professional (getting a new job ) with a lot of special little moments in between. I’m so thankful for all my readers and your continued support. I’m looking forward to all the exciting things that lie ahead in 2014. Happy New Year!

New Year’s Eve Style

I love any excuse to wear a little extra sparkle and there is no holiday more appropriate than New Year’s Eve to do just that. This NYE, I’m opting for a glamourous look complete with gold sequins and vintage flair. I’ve had this BB Dakota dress since August, but really haven’t had the opportunity to wear it. I’ll be pairing it with some ankle booties, these 20’s inspired earrings, and this festive clutch by Kate Spade. I can’t wait to throw it on and sip on some sparkly cocktails to welcome 2014!

Merry Christmas Eve! The holidays have officially begun and I’m so excited for all the festivities that are taking place. I’m finishing up some last minute shopping today, but tonight, my family and I are eating our traditional Christmas Eve dinner at Pappasito’s (one of my favorite restaurants) then watching 24 hours of A Christmas Story. I swear that movie will never get old. I am so happy to be home for the holidays and looking forward to spending a few relaxing days with my family before the New Year. Hope your Christmas Eve is just as merry!

DIY: Margarita Mix Basket

Today my office is having a white elephant gift exchange and while some people might be bringing the traditional gag gift, I opted to go a different route. I was told that alcohol has been a popular choice at past gift exchanges, but to me, gifting just a bottle of wine isn’t very thoughtful. So for a fun twist on my white elephant gift, I created a Margarita Mix Basket. The basket contains everything you need to make the perfect cocktail, including different mixers so you can customize the flavor. I bought an assortment of mini margarita mixers (similar here), added a mini cocktail shaker and shot glass, a lime, tequila (of course), and threw them into a bright colored basket for a festive finishing touch. Since the majority of my items were found in the dollar spot at Target, I was able to spend less than $25. Plus, the basket can be reused. I’m secretly hoping I’ll win this gift back!

Holiday Gift Guide: Stocking Stuffers

This is the final installment of my Holiday Gift Guide for 2013, but to me it is the most important. Every year I go into the holidays with plans to get all my gifts on Black Friday, if not by the first week in December. In all reality, I’m usually seen picking up last minute gifts on Christmas Eve. I don’t mind this last minute scrambling because some of my favorite gifts I’ve ever received have been the smallest, most personalized ones (or even well, thought out stocking stuffers). Checking my stocking Christmas morning is my favorite thing to do (partially because I always forget about it), but mostly because these gifts are the most fun. So, if you’re short on time this year or just looking for a great stocking stuffer, I’ve picked out some of my favorite cheap thrills including this hand cream, the best hair ties ever, and these fun sticky notes.

Christmas in the City

Christmas in Atlanta is always such a magical time of the year. The streets are filled with holiday decor, holiday shopping is in full swing, and despite the frigid temperatures, everyone seems to be in such great spirits. This past weekend, my boyfriend and I headed down to Atlantic Station to finish up some Christmas shopping, but while we were there, we got to take in the full splendor of Christmas complete with temps below 40 degrees, a visit with the giant (but beautifully decorated) tree, and an afternoon ice skating. As a former figure skater I was a little disappointed with my performance on the ice, but that didn’t hinder my spirits as it truly was a perfect winter day surrounded by great company.

Elf Tracker: Week 2

Elf Tracker Week 2

Week 2 is over with and Oliver has certainly been entertaining! What’s he been up to lately? In between his strict yoga schedule and questionable acting gigs, Oliver has managed to watch the 2013 Victoria’s Secret Fashion show, do a little reading, and help me pick out my outfit for a tacky sweater party. I caught him earlier today practicing for the beer chugging contest at the Christmas party with his own “das boot” (Christmas themed of course).
